Personal Data That We Collect
The information we learn from users helps us personalize and continually improve your experience at HandgunCloud. Here are the types of information that we collect.
- Information you give us: We receive and store any information you enter on our website. This includes your email address when you create an account, or any personal information that is contained in your public comments and postings on the website. Providing your email address is mandatory if you choose to create an account. This is so that we can send you a reset link to recover your account, should you forget your login information. Creating an account is not necessary to use the website; however, some features, such as writing handgun reviews and uploading photos, require you to be logged in.
- Automatic information: We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. For example, like many websites, we use "cookies". However, only cookies that are necessary for the website to function properly are used withour your prior consent. All other cookies, including cookies used for preferences, analytics and marketing, require your consent. To able to provide proof of consent, we store your IP address, anonymized by replacing the last part with a zero (0), and what type of device and web browser you are using, when you accept our use of cookies. By accepting this privacy policy, you also accept our use of cookies as described on the Cookie Declaration page. Moreover, to be able to better protect user accounts, we store all login attempts along with anonymized IP addresses and what type of device and web browser were used.
Data Security
What data we store, we will protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. We also protect information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, which encrypts information you input.
It is important that you protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer or device. Do not check the Keep me logged in on this device checkbox when you log in to your account using a public/shared computer, such as in a library, and be sure to log out when finished.
Your Choices and Access
You can always choose not to share any personal information, even though certain information is needed to use features that require an account.
You can always update your email address under the Settings tab on your profile page. Note that you will need to confirm your new email address by clicking a link in an email that we will send to you. On the same page there is also a link where you can download your personal data as a CSV file.
You can always individually delete your lists you have created, comments and handgun reviews you have written, and pictures you have uploaded.
You can always choose to delete your account and all the information you have provided us by clicking Delete account under the Settings tab on your profile page. Here you are presented with two options: you can either choose to anonymize your information (your username will be set to User and your email address will be deleted), or to delete all information permanently, including your public comments and handgun reviews. We recommend the former, since your public postings can be helpful to other users in the future.
You can always update your cookie settings on the Cookie Declaration page. You can also prevent the setting of cookies altogether by adjusting the settings in your browser (see your browser’s Help section for information on how to do this). Be aware that disabling cookies will affect the functionality of this and many other websites that you visit. Disabling cookies will result in also disabling certain functionality and features of this site. Therefore it is recommended that you do not disable cookies.
